The organizers of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) have announced a major increase in prize money ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Under the new prize structure, the league champions will receive ₦1 billion, a huge increase from the ₦200 million previously awarded to the winners. The runners-up will earn ₦500 million, while the third-placed team will take home ₦300 million.
The new prize fund is one of the biggest financial boosts in the history of Nigerian club football and is expected to improve competition across the league.
The increase is part of efforts to grow the NPFL, attract more investment, and make the league more appealing to fans, sponsors, and stakeholders. It will also give clubs more resources to improve player welfare, facilities, and overall development.
