Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ Matches Burna Boy & Davido’s US Apple Music Record

Asake’s third album, Lungu Boy, is off to an incredible start, making waves on streaming charts around the world. The Nigerian singer, known as Asake, has matched the US Apple Music chart record set by fellow Nigerian stars Burna Boy and Davido.

Released on August 9, 2024, Lungu Boy features collaborations with big names like Wizkid, Travis Scott, Ludmilla, Stormzy, and Central Cee. Just hours after its release, the album shot up to #2 on the US Apple Music album chart, making it the third Afrobeats album to reach this position. This ties the record for the highest-charting Nigerian album on the platform, previously achieved by Davido’s ‘Timeless‘ and Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them‘, both released in 2023.

This achievement further boosts Asake’s presence in the American music scene, with his Lungu Boy world tour set to include a performance at the iconic Madison Square Garden.
