Review: The Story ROHEES Tells With “DEMONS” Goes Beyond the Music

With “DEMONS,” ROHEES delivers more than an Afrobeats record. He tells a story about the pressure, uncertainty and personal struggles that come with trying to find your way through life.

What makes the song stand out is how naturally ROHEES approaches these themes. He does not try to make the struggles sound bigger than they are. Instead, he speaks about them in a way that feels familiar, using English, Nigerian Pidgin and Yoruba to bring his experiences and observations to life.

The lyrics touch on heartbreak, missed opportunities, financial pressure, loss and the everyday struggle to keep moving forward. Lines about having nobody to call on and only having a mother’s prayers highlight the emotional side of the record, while the Yoruba passages add another layer to the storytelling.

The title “DEMONS” is also more symbolic than literal. The song uses the idea of demons to represent the fears, doubts, pain, pressure and losses that people carry within themselves. These are struggles that may not always be visible, but they can have a major impact on how people live and make decisions.

Production-wise, Danexx gives the song a grounded Afrobeats foundation that supports the message without taking attention away from the lyrics. The production allows ROHEES to move comfortably between reflective moments and more energetic passages, keeping the record engaging from start to finish.

Another strong point is the song’s message about belief. Even after speaking about disappointment and uncertainty, ROHEES still holds on to the idea of showing up and believing in what you cannot see yet. That balance between vulnerability and determination gives “DEMONS” its emotional weight.

Ultimately, “DEMONS” works because its story is personal but its themes are familiar. You may not have experienced the exact situations ROHEES describes, but the feelings behind them — pressure, doubt, disappointment, hope and the desire to keep going — are easy to understand.

“DEMONS” is a thoughtful record that shows a more reflective side of ROHEES, proving that sometimes the strongest stories are the ones that come from simply telling life as it is.
