The 2026 summer transfer window may be closed across most of Europe, but several well-known footballers are still without clubs and available as free agents.
The current market includes Champions League winners, former Premier League stars and experienced internationals who can still negotiate moves without a transfer fee. Paul Pogba, Karim Benzema and Dani Carvajal are among the players whose departures from their previous clubs have been confirmed, while Jadon Sancho also remains available following his Manchester United exit.

Pogba became available after ending his time with Monaco, while Benzema mutually terminated his contract with Al-Hilal. Carvajal is also without a club following the end of his long spell at Real Madrid.
Other established names such as Sancho, Sterling and Mahrez are also among the players looking for their next move.
With plenty of experience and quality still available, the free-agent market could offer clubs another opportunity to strengthen their squads even after the summer transfer window has closed.
