Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that he has no intention of leaving his role as Brazil’s head coach following the team’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Brazil’s dream of winning a record sixth World Cup title ended after a 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16. The result led to criticism of Ancelotti’s tactics and raised questions about his future with the Seleção.
Speaking after the match, the experienced Italian made it clear that he is focused on rebuilding the team.
“This defeat is the beginning of a new cycle. We are all deeply disappointed, but we have to look ahead and build for the future.”
Ancelotti said Brazil created enough chances to get a better result and believes the defeat should serve as motivation for the future. He also admitted the squad needs fresh energy, especially in midfield, with more young players expected to be part of the team’s next chapter.
The 67-year-old is expected to remain in charge after recently signing a contract extension that will keep him as Brazil’s head coach until the 2030 FIFA World Cup, showing the Brazilian Football Confederation’s confidence in his long-term plans.
