Achraf Hakimi is set to stand trial in France after a Paris appeals court ruled that there is sufficient evidence for legal proceedings to continue in connection with an alleged rape case from February 2023.
The latest ruling marks a major development in a case that has drawn significant attention since the allegations first became public. Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and captains the Moroccan national team, has repeatedly denied the allegations.
According to reports, the alleged incident took place at Hakimi’s home near Paris, where a woman accused the football star of sexual assault.
Hakimi’s legal team has maintained that the accusations are false and has expressed confidence that the trial process will clear his name.
Following a lengthy investigation, prosecutors recommended that the case move to trial, a request that has now been approved by the appeals court.
When Will the Trial Take Place?
At the time of writing, no official trial date has been announced.
Hakimi remains eligible to continue playing football while the legal process moves forward, as the court’s decision to proceed to trial does not amount to a verdict or finding of guilt.
The Moroccan defender has remained an important player for both Paris Saint-Germain and the Moroccan national team in recent seasons, including his involvement during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As the case progresses, more details are expected to emerge regarding the trial schedule and legal proceedings.
