Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Oladimeji, better known as Oladips, has stirred up an online debate after accusing Afrobeats star Wizkid of using lyrics similar to his own without giving credit. Oladips noticed the likeness between his 2022 song “Ajala Traveller” and Wizkid’s verse on Asake’s track “MMS” from the new Lungu Boy album.
Oladips shared screenshots to compare the lyrics, pointing out that Wizkid’s line “Lost Myself, and I found my purpose” closely resembles his own line, “I had to lose myself to find my purpose.” He raised the question of whether this was a case of “recycling or coincidence” and tagged Wizkid in his post.
The issue has divided fans and sparked a wider conversation about creativity, originality, and credit in the music industry. Some fans defended Wizkid, while others supported Oladips’ claim.
