5 Hit Songs by Wizkid and Davido You Didn’t Know Were Written by Other Artists

June 5, 2024

Here are 5 songs by Wizkid and 5 by Davido that you might not know were written by other artists.

Davido is more open about performing songs written by others compared to Wizkid. He often praises his songwriters in public.

For instance, in an interview on Ebuka’s podcast, Davido thanked Tekno for reviving his career after a year without hits. Tekno had written, produced, and recorded “If” before deciding Davido was the right artist for it.

Wizkid, while less vocal about it, also collaborates with other writers for his hits.

Davido’s Songs Written by Others:

 1. “If”

Tekno wrote and produced “If” for Davido. This song became a huge hit in 2017, bringing Davido back into the spotlight after a quiet year.

2. “Fia”

Following the success of “If,” Davido teamed up with Peruzzi for “Fia,” solidifying his top artist status in 2017. He even won the 2018 BET Award for Best International Act.

3. “Assurance”

In 2017/18, Davido dedicated “Assurance” and a Porsche to his then-girlfriend (now wife), Chioma Rowland. He co-wrote the song with Peruzzi.

4. “Fall”

“Fall” is arguably Davido’s biggest hit, being his first RIAA gold- and platinum-certified song. It was co-written and produced by Kiddominant.

5. “Unavailable”

Written by Peruzzi and Davido’s 2023 signee, Logos Olori, “Unavailable” is the standout track from the record-breaking “Timeless” album.

Wizkid’s Songs Written by Others:

 1. “Steady”

From the deluxe edition of “Made In Lagos” (MIL), “Steady” was created in Tay Iwar’s studio. Tay Iwar, who also featured on “True Love” from the original edition, likely had a hand in writing it.

2. “Deep”

Tay Iwar is to Wizkid what Peruzzi is to Davido. “Deep,” from the “More Love, Less Ego” album, was written by Tay Iwar.

3. “Frames”

Tay Iwar, whose real name is Austin Iornongu Iwar, is a gifted Nigerian R&B singer, songwriter, and producer. Known for his smooth vocals and soulful sound, Tay Iwar has significantly contributed to the music scene. He co-wrote Wizkid’s song “Frames,” demonstrating his talent for creating memorable melodies and meaningful lyrics.

4. “Wiz Party”

Skales, Wizkid’s former label mate at EME Records, claimed he wrote “Wiz Party,” a freestyle hit from the “Superstar” album, even though it doesn’t have a second verse.

5. “Baba Nla”

In 2015, Wizkid and Dammy Krane had a dispute over “Baba Nla.” Dammy Krane claimed he wrote the song during a visit to Wizkid’s house. This led to a physical altercation in a club.
