South African rapper Kiernan ‘AKA‘ Forbes was killed on Florida Road on Friday night, according to Durban police sources.
Another person believed to be AKA’s bodyguard was also wounded, while an unidentified person, who is understood to be a close friend of AKA, was also shot dead in the drive-by shooting, according to an IOL report.
Police in the province had yet to officially comment on the incident, but according to IOL, AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.
Just 2 years ago, Nelli Tembe, the fiancée of the deceased South African hip hop artist, AKA, died after falling from the 10th floor of a hotel. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Pepperclub Hotel in Central Cape Town.
Last year, one of South Africa’s most famous rappers, Riky Rick, left his legion of fans grieving after he took his own life at the age of 34.
On 18 October 2007, popular reggae artist Lucky Dube was killed the same way in Rosettenville, a suburb in southern Johannesburg, shortly after dropping two of his seven children off at their uncle’s house.
