Nigerian singer and songwriter Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, popularly known as Oxlade, has said that Grammy Award winner Burna Boy and Internationally acclaimed Emo Afrobeats Superstar Ckay were not shown love in Nigeria until they blew up on the international scene.
The assertion was made in an interview with British DJ and radio presenter, Tim Westwood. Oxlade was speaking on the Nigerian music industry, as regards a question Tim Westwood asked about the music industry in Nigeria.
Tim Westwood implied that if you get big in Lagos there is a tendency to get big internationally. In his reply, Oxlade, used instances where Ckay, Burna Boy, and Amaarae didn’t get love at home until they got big abroad.
