Today, we’ll be meeting with Adedipe Oluwatosin Samuel Oluwadamilare who is popularly known as Daretrix. Daretrix is a fast-rising rapper and singer also an awaiting graduate student from the Faculty of Social sciences, Department of Sociology at the University of Ilorin.
Daretrix in this Interview tells us about how it all began for him as a music act, his background and a whole lot more. Enjoy!!!
ZagaEmpire: Tell us about yourself
Daretrix: My name is Adedipe Oluwatosin Samuel Oluwadamilare (hence where the Dare in Daretrix comes from). I’m currently 20 years old and will be 21 by November 3rd. An awaiting graduate student from the Faculty of Social sciences, Department of Sociology at the University of Ilorin. I am a Musical Artist, I rap and I sing well, I started off as a rapper but I’m currently doing more of singing now, I have been doing Music for five years now.
ZagaEmpire: What drives you into doing Music?
Daretrix: My passion for it
ZagaEmpire: How and where did it start?
Daretrix: I grew up around singers who had nice voice, invariably I was compelled subconsciously to always sing along too, and this was since my childhood days so eventually after my secondary school days was when I recorded my first song so it was then it started.
ZagaEmpire: What was the atmosphere at home and your immediate environment when you first started?
Daretrix: They all accepted me and my music in as much as I didn’t let it affect my studies
ZagaEmpire: What is the biggest obstacle you have encountered journeying the path of music?
Daretrix: In the end everything is money related and you’ll need financial aid, the biggest obstacle is having to foot every bill music related by myself.
ZagaEmpire: What has been your greatest motivation as a Musician?
Daretrix: A lot of positive benefits just comes with this music of a thing, plus anything worth doing at all is worth doing well.
ZagaEmpire: Tell us about your latest song “Calm Down”
Daretrix: I recorded “Calm Down” in early 2021, meaning I released it like a year after it was recorded, it’s a really nice song, and it is my first non infused rap single i.e all voicing no rap line. In this song, I relate to levels of both genders being up high and not being looked down upon. “Calm Down” is literally just a cruise song with a little showoff.

ZagaEmpire: Aside from music, what else do you do?
Daretrix: I’m going to be graduating in a bit so till then I’m still a student, I work in my dad’s company as an assistant manager also.
ZagaEmpire: Who’s your model in the entertainment industry?
Daretrix: Rema
ZagaEmpire: Why did you choose him as a model?
Daretrix: His uniqueness is heavy, I love his music
ZagaEmpire: In the next three years, where do you see yourself?
Daretrix: Probably in a better country living a soft life with my baby girl, and steadily dropping “Gbedu”.
ZagaEmpire: What will be your greatest achievement as a Musician?
Daretrix: I’ll leave that to the world to decide when it’s time.
ZagaEmpire: If you quit music, what else will you venture into?
Daretrix: A “tech bro” basically
ZagaEmpire: Do you wish to discuss your relationship status? If yes, who’s the lucky lady?
Daretrix: Yes, I’m in a relationship, and I’m the lucky guy here.
ZagaEmpire: Which artiste in the whole of the world earned your maximum respect and why?
Daretrix: Olamide, because of how well he rises young artists just coz he can.
ZagaEmpire: What advice do you have for rising Musicians?
Daretrix: Pushing P! Don’t wait for anyone, keep doing your thing and always be ready to learn more, and everything should work out fine.
