As it is well known in the entertainment industry that Wizkid and Davido are part of the artistes with very large fan bases, it is no news that there has been an existing feud between two of them.
However, 2022 started out well when the two artistes hugged each other at Club Quilox on a Friday night. It was a sweet and memorable moment as Davido approached Wizkid and initiated a warm embrace which lasted for a while.
It is expected that many more positive collaborations will spring forth from this reconciliation. Seeing things in a different light, Davido and Wizkid’s fans should not expect the following:
• A COLLABORATION
A hit song from two big ones in the music industry would be anticipated, but there are reasons not to see that coming. The two artistes have their ego and pride to maintain as influential celebrities. None of them would want to seem like the one who is featured. Instead, they would want to be the one who featured the other. Who will wear the crown of self adulation?
Apart from this fact, fans of both artistes will definitely compare who killed the song better than the other. This might be the genesis of another huge rift between the both of them.
• DAVIDO TO BRING WIZ OUT FOR HIS O2
Owing to the fact that Wizkid sold out the 02 Arena at his three-day ‘Made in Lagos’ concert held at London, Davido might not bring Wizkid for his performance there. If he does, it might seem like he did it for an influence on his performance. It might be misinterpreted by Wizkid’s fans as him leveraging on the huge impact Wizkid made in his last performance.
Also, Davido might want to prove a point that he can do what his fellow musician did, and even more. Hence, keeping out Wizkid from his performance.
• THIS SETTLEMENT TO BE THE FINAL
Tracing the genesis of their feud, the trolls and insults started in 2017. Wizkid tweeted about Davido’s voice, comparing it to a frog’s. According to Wizkid, “Yankee passport no be baba blue, e no dey cure frog voice.”
It was on Twitter that this was let out. Ever since then, Wizkid FC and Davido FC have been at loggerheads with each other, even after the artistes reconciled late 2017. The constant opposition is because of the dislike of one artiste, which automatically makes such person a fan of the other.
Even if the two artistes seem happy with each other now, their fans will not easily let go of their diehard nature and loyal utterances about their favourite artiste. This is like a fire that is burning slowly. Anything can spark it up again.
When comparisons are made between both artistes, neither of them come out to correct fans or debunk such statements. It seems both of them are fine with the constant brawls. This is the music industry, where the best is not permanent. Their settlement cannot be permanent.
