Today, we’ll be meeting with Shittu Olamide who is Entertainmently known as DRE. DRE is a fast rising rapper and currently a student of the University Of Ilorin.
DRE in this Interview tells us about how it all began for him as a rapper, his background and a whole lot more. Enjoy!!!
ZagaEmpire: Can we meet you?
DRE: Yes, my name is Shittu Olamide also known as Dre. I am a rapper and an entertainer, I come from Abeokuta, Ogun State. Raised in Lagos and schooling at the University Of Ilorin.
ZagaEmpire: What drives you into Music?
DRE: Well I started as a fan of music. I enjoy listening to music, it was one of those things I decided to try out then and it clicked. So I decided to go all out and I’m enjoying it.
ZagaEmpire: How and where did it start?
DRE: It was after I finished my secondary school days, man was a jobless teenager lol. I just use to watch music videos because at that time I had access to an unlimited Spectranet. So I just did not find myself doing anything else than watching music videos and things related to music.
ZagaEmpire: What was the atmosphere at home and your immediate environment when you first started?
DRE: I was living with my grandfather at that time so I was always home alone. I will just be me in my room alone because my grandfather won’t allow me go out and I had no friends around that vicinity so I was always to myself.
ZagaEmpire: What is the biggest obstacle you have encountered journeying the path of music?
DRE: I can’t really say now because I just started this career so I’m still in the beginner stages but for sure there will always be obstacles and that’s fine.
ZagaEmpire: What has been your greatest motivation as a rapper?
DRE: My greatest motivation as a rapper is all other rappers that I look up to that made it big in the rap game. I just always look at their life and feel motivated.
ZagaEmpire: Aside music, what else do you do?
DRE: Asides music, I’m a student of the University Of Ilorin studying mathematics lol
ZagaEmpire: Who’s your model in the entertainment industry?
DRE: I have lots of role model in the industry from 2pac to Acehood, Young MA, Tory Lanez, Nasty C, Drake, Stormzy, Santan Dave, Mayorkun and so on. There is a list of them with all of my role models having a particular part of my life they impact through their music and personality.
ZagaEmpire: Why did you choose them as your model?
DRE: Why did i choose them?… well I could channel their energy…It doesn’t really need to be the music, sometimes it is their story, their background or their come up. There is just always this reality in their life that I can relate to.
ZagaEmpire: In the next three years, where do you see yourself?
DRE: In the next three years I will see myself growing periodically from each year and seeing a huge different. That I’m a bigger and better person from who I was, you know that kind of growth when you look back and say I’m really making it. Yes that feeling.
ZagaEmpire: What will be your greatest achievement as a rapper?
DRE: My greatest achievement as a rapper is to be in every conversation when they talk about the greatest rappers to ever do it.
ZagaEmpire: If you quit been a rapper, what else will you venture into?
DRE: Quit being a rapper??… mehn that’s one thing I have never considered lol. There is no plan b,This is what I want to do. For sure they will be a retirement plan for when I’m a old man lol but as long as my prime is concerned God help me it will be this music thing.
ZagaEmpire: Do you wish to discuss your relationship status? If yes, who’s the lucky lady?
DRE: Mehn my relationship life is a long story lol, but have been with the best girls. 9 times out of 10, all the relationship have been in are very short term and did not end up serious. So for now I’m not with anybody just focusing on this music thing.
ZagaEmpire: Which artiste in the whole of the world earned your maximum respect and why?
DRE: Like i said I have a lot of role models and that role model list literally gets updated everyday because mehn the world is full of talented people and once I find someone that says the extraordinary or do the extraordinary I automatically bow because not everybody can do that or attain that height. All my role models stand out and they will forever have my respect because they are different from the regular.
ZagaEmpire: What has been your relationship with fans and people alike?
DRE: I think I have a good relationship with my fans and I’m so contented with them. They support me everytime, I’m grateful to have people like that rooting for me. I also have a good relationship with people around me.
ZagaEmpire: What advice do you have for fellow upcoming rappers?
DRE: I cannot be accurate with any advice I give right now because I’m an upcoming artiste myself and there’s a lot of things I am not doing right but what I do is I always be myself. I pray to God about this music thing, I practice my craft, Play my part as Dre. Listen to good music and stay on my path.
